Professional Learning Courses for K–12 teachers, coaches, leaders, and administrators
Making Sense of SCIENCE (MSS) offers a variety of courses for diverse audiences. Each course has multiple components that ensure plenty of opportunities for personalized learning. All courses include multidimensional investigations into core science and engineering ideas. In addition courses have a several other investigations, including investigations into cases of classroom practice, literacy content and practices essential for science, and the pedagogical philosophies that underpin next generation teaching and learning in science and engineering.
Teacher Courses are face-to-face and vary in length from 1 day to 5 days. MSS staff and consultants are available to facilitate these courses. Alternately, MSS staff can provide a Facilitation Academy that prepare leaders in your region to facilitate the Teacher Courses themselves.
COURSE MATERIALS & TOPICS
Courses are available that cover the core ideas in K–12 earth, life, and physical science and engineering, the pedagogical shifts required to teach in 21st century science classrooms, and the strategies for supporting high-quality science instruction.
